Alan John Leib

               Alan John Leib “Butch”, 74, of Eureka, MT passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his home in Eureka.  He was born June 13, 1943 to John and Alma (Hellickson) Leib in Scobey, MT.  Alan spent his early childhood years in Scobey, attending school there through the 3rd grade.  The family then moved to Eureka where he attended the Eureka Public Schools.  Alan joined the United States Navy on September 27, 1960 and transferred to the Reserves on June 19, 1963.  He faithfully served his country until his Honorable Discharge on September 26, 1966.  Following his service, Alan returned to Eureka and worked as a logger in Northwest Montana, Idaho and Alaska.  He married Irene Johnson in Eureka on April 14, 1980.  Alan enjoyed painting as a hobby.  He will be missed by family and friends who knew and loved him.

               Survivors include his wife Irene Leib of Eureka; daughter DelRae Augustine (Jason) of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Morris Leib (Norma) of Columbia Falls; sister, Geri Ax of Kalispell; and grandchildren Jacob, Jarett, and Aiden.  A Memorial Service for Alan will be 12:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Pinkham School House with a potluck to follow.  Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home of Eureka, MT.  Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.
