Sheila Turner Obituary

Sheila K. Turner (Dutcher), daughter of Wendell Dutcher and Barbara Dutcher (VanDeSande) was born on December 14, 1939.  She attended Perry Public Schools in Shiawassee County, Michigan and graduated in 1958.  She played basketball, was a member of the Glee Club, and a member of the Student Council.  She was forever proud to be a Perry Rambler.

Sheila married James E. Turner in 1958, in Owosso, Michigan and together they shared 7 children.  Sheila was employed with Perry Public Schools for 26 years and retired in 1996.  She often shared memories of the children she built special relationships with throughout her years of driving the school bus.  She had a profound love of music and was especially proud of singing in various choirs.  Sheila was known for lending a helping hand and volunteering however she could.  She was unwavering in her faith in God and dedicated her life to those she loved.  She was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren, and fiercely loved those who loved her. Sheila’s legacy of generousness and devotion will forever be preserved.

Sheila peacefully departed this life on October 15, 2024.  She was predeceased by her parents Wendell & Barbara Dutcher (VanDeSande), and sister Wendy Schlicklin (Dutcher).

Sheila is survived by and will eternally cherish; Brother-in-law Richard Lewis, and sister Judy Lewis (Dutcher) of Perry, MI;  Brother-in-law Matt Schlicklin of Morrice, MI;  Special Cousin Larry (Sue) VanDeSande of Mason, MI; Children: Jim Turner of Audubon, IA, Steve Turner of Benzonia, MI, Duane (Dawn) Turner of Morrice, MI, Cathy (Mike) Turner-Haskins of Libby, MT, and Barbie (Jon) Meister of Libby, MT; Grandchildren: Chris, Sasha, Jenni, RJ, Jeffery, Amber, Kenedee, Jordan, Dayton, Jasmine, Bridgett, Tytus, Katie; 13 Great Grandchildren; Nieces and nephews: David, Christie, Joellen, Rick, Mark, Tom, Amy, Heather, Doug; and an incredible amount of extended family. Special Friends: Sue Dunn, Jackie Gruesbeck, the Spencer Family, and so many more.

Sheila will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery in Perry, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Local arrangements were under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby, MT.
