Ruby Stapley Obituary

Ruby Joyce (Good) Stapley, 85, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at her home in Troy, MT.  She was born on February 12, 1939, in Victor, MT, to DeLoss Good and Margaret (Good) Rhoades.

Ruby married Norman Stapley in Coeur d’Alene, ID on September 7, 1955.  They raised six children together as well as having their door open to anyone, young or old, who needed a place to stay.

Ruby left the eighth grade to begin to help support her family at home and went back years later and received her GED.  She was 16 years old when she married Norman and, eventually, they started a logging business called Stapley Contracting in Troy, working side by side in the woods many years, as well as their sons as they grew older.

Ruby loved embroidery, crocheting, knitting, and anything else that would keep her hands busy.  She also loved working in the garden and other outdoor activities.  She and her friend, Phylis Cole, would make the most beautiful cakes together for the Senior Citizens in Troy, for the Senior’s monthly Birthday celebration, as well as for weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations.  She and Phylis also started a company called, “The Flying Needles Studio”, and they would knit away on their machines at Ruby’s home, then go off to various Craft Fairs to sell their wares.  They would also receive numerous orders that they would ship out.  Ruby also loved game shows and could watch them by the hour.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Norman Stapley; daughter Trena (Mike) Pacheco; and grandson Ricky Stapley.  Survivors include children Rick (Debbie) Stapley of Troy, Ross Stapley of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Roland Stapley of Troy, Ellis (Cheryl) Stapley of Lewiston, Idaho, and Nick (Heidi) Stapley of Tucson, Arizona; sisters Lucille (Miles) Briggs of Libby, Margaret (Louis) Partney of Marshfield, Missouri; brother Dale (Bonnie) Good of Pot Latch, Idaho; grandchildren Aaron, Ashley, Tonya, Crystal, Josh, Blake, Rock, Tyanne, Charo, Matthew, Ryan, Adam, Jordan, Chloe and Nicholas; as well as many great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
