Rose C. (Marquardt) Goyen passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at eighty years old. Born May 9, 1942, to parents George and Lucielle Marquardt. Rose spent her childhood in North Dakota; moving to Glendive, Montana, her senior year. After high school, Rose was awarded a scholarship to Carroll College in Helena, Montana.
Earning an education degree, Rose’s career as an educator brought her to Libby MT. She married Dan Goyen and had three children.
Rose had many passions and interests. Her father, George, was a talented musician and introduced Rose to music. She shared her musical interest with family, but not necessarily her talent. She would often beg them not to sing.
Teaching was her calling. She loved the written word and shared that love with others. Rose inspired many students, and her family often hears stories of their favorite teacher Ms. Goyen. Even after she retired, she continued to teach. Her grandchildren brought friends over for Ms. Goyen's help. She was always willing to explain a difficult passage or proof-read a paper.
Rose enjoyed sharing homemade food with friends and family. She made and gave away so much banana bread that the grocery store started saving brown bananas for her. Her homemade pizza and brown bread were two of her specialties and were enjoyed at many family gatherings.
Her wit and passion for the written word will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Lucielle Marquardt; brother Lew; and many treasured friends.
She is survived by her children: Teresa, Robert and Cartia (Terry) Lisell; and her grandchildren Kammi (Michael), Autumn, and John.
Services will take place at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Libby at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, followed by reception. Interment at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby, Montana. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.
