Ricky Eugene Shaver March 27, 1960 – August 2, 2025
Ricky Eugene Shaver, 65, of Troy, Montana, passed away on August 2, 2025, doing what he loved most—camping with friends, boating, and family.
Ricky was born on March 27, 1960, in Crescent City, California, and moved to Troy, Montana, in 1973, where he built a life surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors he so deeply cherished. He was known for his adventurous spirit, warm heart, and love for gathering with the people who mattered most to him. Ricky also had a lifelong passion for meticulously caring for his classic cars, taking great pride in keeping them in pristine condition.
Over the years, Ricky worked as an equipment operator at the Asarco Mine in Troy, Montana, and later as a surveyor for Davis Surveying, where his skill and dedication were valued by coworkers and clients alike.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Shaver and his brother, David Shaver. He is survived by his mother, Alice Shaver; his sons, Ricky Shaver (April) and Jacob Shaver; grandchildren Chesney, Chesnie, and Kashlyn Shaver; the love of his life, Laurie Thom; her brother, Joel; her daughter, Misty (Brian); and her sons, Brandon and BJ Orr. He is also survived by his brothers Punk Shaver (Anna), Donald Shaver (Kelley), and Tim Shaver; his sisters Sharon Shaver Weathers and Vickie Belke (Gill); countless nieces, nephews, and loved ones who cherished him very much.
A celebration of Ricky’s life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., at the Libby Pavilion in Libby, Montana. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor Ricky’s memory. Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby, Montana.
