Oren R Farris

Oren Robert Farris, born April 26th, 1948, in Lead, South Dakota, passed peacefully on March 15th, 2025, in Libby MT, comforted by family at his side. He is preceded in death by parents Robert and Mildred (Kelloniemi) Farris; brother Billy Simon; and sister Kathy Farris. Oren served in Vietnam with the United States Navy and, after his discharge in 1969, held many jobs around Montana, landing him in Libby, working at the mill from 1969-1993. Oren eventually retired from BNSF in 2012. He continued to proudly serve his country as a member of both the Idaho and Montana National Guard and lifelong member of the VFW.

Oren enjoyed time with family and friends and is survived by his sister Sharon Johnson Tiensvold of Alliance, Nebraska; Michael Johnson of Libby, Montana; sons Travis and Jeff Sharp (and family); nephew David Tiensvold (Wendy) and family; ex-wife and good friend Deena Farris; in addition to grandchildren and many loving extended families. 

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2025, at Schnackenberg Funeral Home Chapel in Libby. A reception at the VFW will follow.
