NORMA R (NELSON) GRIFFIN

Norma R. Nelson Griffin, 85, died on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Eureka, MT to Niles and Doris Nelson on October 21, 1934.   

Norma attended grade school in Whitefish and spent much of her growing up years in the Trego area near the Nelson family homestead. She enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, bicycling, camping and motorcycle riding.

Norma met William E McKinney in Washington state where he was stationed in the US Navy. They were married March 17, 1951.  They lived between the Eureka and Seattle area and moved permanently to Montana in 1976, staying in the Fortine and Trego area.  Bill died on May 29, 1995.  She married William Griffin of Trego on July 9, 1998. They were married until his death on July 8, 2006.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Niles and Doris Nelson, her husbands William McKinney, and William Griffin, and siblings Wayne Nelson and Joy Barton.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Karen) Stephens of Lenexa, KS; Sandra (Connie) McKinney-Holcomb of Bowie, MD; Maury (Karmen) McKinney of Eureka, MT; grandchildren Meghan (Alex) Ekholt, Nichole (Jon) Burns, Ryan McKinney, Melissa Holcomb, Matthew Holcomb, Ryan (Melissa) Stephens, Angela (James) Jackson,  Melissa (Stuart) Child, Sean (Liz) Stephens, Emily (Ryan) Kanaley, Allison Stephens; great grandchildren, Josie, Samuel, Ethan, Mary, Diana, Sarah, Laura, Julianna, Ella, Charlotte, Audrey, Kate, Elyse, Lydia, Isla, Jackson, Eli and Alex.

A family service is being held at the Fortine Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Eureka.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
