Mary Beth (Coyne) Casazza passed away the morning of January 10th, 2024 at
Logan Health Hospital in Kalispell, MT after a five year battle with primary
peritoneal cancer. Mary Beth was born in Butte, MT on May 22nd, 1966 to
Raymond and Delia (Piazzola) Coyne, the last of their five daughters, with older
sisters Raeleen, Lori, Michele, and Jodi. She attended Emerson Elementary, East
Middle School, and Butte High, where she was head majorette in the Purple B’s
drill team and graduated with the class of 1984.
Mary Beth obtained an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies from the College of
Great Falls. She also attended Montana Tech in Butte, where she met Larry
Casazza. The two were married at St. John’s Catholic Church on January 2nd,
1988. Mary Beth worked as a paralegal for Poore, Roth, and Robinson while they
lived in Butte.
After graduating from Montana Tech, Larry joined the Navy, and the couple spent
six years traveling the country for various assignments. During this time, Mary
Beth earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice from Central Washington
University, and worked as a parole officer. Also during this time, they met a group
of submariners and their wives that became lifelong friends who would attend
annual summer camping trips and Christmas parties for years to come.
Mary Beth gave birth to two daughters, Rebecca and Katherine. They moved to
Kennewick, WA, where they raised their girls. She dedicated the next years to her
family, volunteering at their school, St. Joseph’s, and making sure that they were
able to enjoy as many positive experiences as possible. She loved planning
vacations and attending concerts, plays, musicals, and countless sporting events
with her family. She especially loved cheering on her girls when they played
volleyball.
Mary Beth put her faith and her family before everything. She was a devout
Catholic. She worked as the Religious Education Coordinator and led an adult
Bible Study at Holy Spirit Parish for many years where she touched the lives of so
many. She also helped open a pregnancy clinic in the Tri-Cities called Hope
Medical which provided care for countless women and babies. Mary Beth worked
as a volunteer there until a year before she and Larry moved to Eureka in the
spring of 2020. She continued to volunteer for her church in Eureka, Our Lady of
Mercy. She and Larry served on the Building Committee performing updates to
the church, and planning for a new rectory.
