Laurelye Johnson Obituary

Laurelye Johnson, born Laurelye Dearinger on September 24, 1941, in Greenfield, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home in her bed on December 4, 2025, in Troy, Montana. She carried the warmth and steadiness of her Midwestern roots throughout her life.

Laurelye was first married to James Hudman, with whom she had two sons, Steven and Jim. She later married Curtis “Curt” Hughes and together they welcomed a son, Gordon. Her family was her anchor; she was proud of each of her boys and loved them dearly. Her latest husband Ken Johnson had preceded her in death in 2020.

She spent most of her working years as a waitress and hostess, roles where her quick wit, no-nonsense charm, and strong work ethic shined. She had a way of making people feel welcome, whether across a restaurant table or in her own home.

Laurelye was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her joy and kept her spirit lively. She loved watching her family grow and took pride in every new generation.

She lived her life with quiet strength, a straightforward nature, and a deep love for the people she held close. She will be dearly missed.
