Obituary
Joseph “Joe” Gilmer, 85, of Troy, MT passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born May 30, 1937 in Kingsport, TN to Joe B. and Kitty Gilmer. He went to school and played football at Dobbins Bennet High School and NW Mississippi Junior College. Joe worked in the oil fields in Mississippi and Louisiana. He purchased Acco Cable in Bakersfield, CA in 1964. In 1982, Joe moved to Troy, MT and he married Connie Taylor in 1984. They ran Acco Cable until retiring in 2006.
Joe is survived by his wife, Connie, of 38 years; son, Brian and wife, Paula and their children, Kelsey and Blake; son, Jeff and wife, Robin and their children, Erika, Hailey and Rob; 2 great-grandsons, Jaxon and Benjamin; and brothers, Jerry and Philip of Johnson City, TN. A Memorial Service for Joe will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Troy Community Baptist Church. Arrangements were under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby.
