Jon Dunham Obituary

Jon Stuart Dunham, 82 of Libby, MT passed away on October 29, 2024. Born on November 4, 1941, in Detroit, MI, Jon had a spirit of adventure that marked his journey from Michigan to the majestic landscapes of Montana. Here, he embraced the great outdoors, mastering the arts of fishing, hunting, and hiking. His passion for adventure extended to his professional life where he thrived as a Chrysler auto mechanic and test drive engineer. Jon later channeled his expertise into entrepreneurship, founding J&R Cycle Engineering and Jon's Custom Engineered Cycles, specializing in classic auto restoration and custom motorcycle building.

Jon's life was rich with personal relationships. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kay Dunham; sons Jeff Dunham (Dana), Jerry Dunham (Sue), Robert Dunham (Glenda), and Daniel Dunham (Holly); daughters Jackie Dunham, Michelle May, Robyn Paulson, Eryn Dunham; and his cherished bonus children Kellie, Stacy, Brigette, and Pat. His legacy is also remembered by his many grandchildren who will miss his larger-than-life presence.

Jon was preceded in death by his son Michael Throndset; his father John Dunham; sister Janet Dunham; bonus mom Adele Dunham; mother Elizabeth Stuart Dunham Green; and bonus son Johnny.

An alumnus of Southfield High School and Henry Ford Community College, Jon's educational background laid a solid foundation for his successful career. His hobbies were as diverse as his skills, including traveling, building motorcycles, restoring vintage cars, home repair, and flying.  A dedicated member of the Three Lakes Bible Church, Jon's faith deeply influenced his life and actions. Jon also had numerous friends and extended family due to his influential presence in the Libby Igniter’s Club and the Elks.

A memorial service celebrating Jon's life will be held on November 9, 2024, at 1pm at the Three Lakes Bible Church, 136 Ring Loop Rd, Troy, MT 59935. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jon’s memory can be made to "Wings," a cause close to his heart, reflecting his love for flying, freedom, and cancer research.
