James Peterson Obituary

James Leo Peterson, 76, of Libby passed away peacefully at his home on July 12, 2021.  He was born September 2, 1944 in Bismarck, North Dakota to William Harry and Eva Marie (Nelson) Peterson.  James married Evelyn Steiger on January 19, 1968.  They had 5 wonderful daughters.  He was an amazing father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

James enjoyed boxing in his younger years with his brother, Dennis.  He was always up for a day of hunting and fishing.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  He had a very good sense of humor and was always cracking jokes. 

James worked at a tire shop when he was younger and then worked as a laborer at the Champion Mill. 

James is survived by his four daughters Amanda Peterson (Chad), Jamie Kelley (Duane), Peggy Scott all of Libby, MT, Nancy Peterson (Mike) of Billings, MT; his grandchildren Stephanie Fairbrother (Robert), Taylor and Drew Munro, Gunnar Fairbrother, Tiah Davenport, Melissa (Brent) McCloud, Jonathan Davenport, Kerry Breitenstein (Dezi), Tamara Breitenstein-Shaver, Shiroccho Kelley, Cody Kelley, Teesa Kelley (Derek), Brandon Middleton; 18 great-grandchildren; his brother Dennis (Diane) Peterson; 2 sister-in-laws Betty Peterson, Ester (Mike) Watkins; 2 brother-in-laws Butch (Jo) Steiger, Allen (Brenda) Steiger; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his parents, Harry and Eva Peterson; and daughter, Jenny Peterson.
