Ten-year Libby, Montana resident Joanna "Jo" Faye Kester, 97, died October, 10, 2021 at her son's home in Libby. She was born May 26, 1924 in Terre Haute, Indiana and grew up on her family's farm near Cory, Indiana. Jo was one of eight children, born to Goldie and Rudolph Kester.
She attended Cory Elementary and Cory High School, and graduated May 1942. Jo was married August 14, 1945 to Alvin Dewayne Staggs for 15-years. Jo's long-time friend and companion, Stan Cargo was a pilot and together they loved to travel. She traveled extensively around the United States as well as internationally to Paris, England, Switzerland, Australia, Panama, Alaska and Hawaii.
She loved the mountains in Libby and Mt. Shasta in California where she lived for many years. Jo was fascinated by clouds, enjoyed music, singing, and cooking for family gatherings. She was an amazing story-teller, and loved to laugh at a good joke.
Jo often said, "getting old is not for sissies!" She lived her long, rich life with grace, determination, strength, humor and faith. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by her many family and friends. Jo blessed each of our lives, and our only comfort is knowing we will be with her again someday in heaven.
She was survived by her nine children: Glee, Roxann, Alan, Ace, Jan, Kirk, Wendy, Suzie and Buddy; 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and also several great-great-grandchildren.
