Jerry “Cub” Dale Hersman, age 76, passed away peacefully in his home on June 4th, 2018. He was born on April 25, 1942, in Kalispell, Montana to Gerald and Delores Hersman (White). He graduated as Student Body President from Park County High School in Livingston, Montana; and he was active in several chorale groups, drama, and science clubs.
Jerry served in the U.S. Armed Forces and National Guard from 1961 to 1965, during which he was a camp cook known for his Southern fried chicken which was requested in the Officers’ Mess. He worked at numerous radio stations in Montana, Oregon, and California as a disc jockey, program director, and salesperson. Then, in 1995, he and his wife, Debbie, started the retail store, Rocky Mountain Music & Collectables in Libby, Montana. He donated many hours of sound system service to local schools, churches, and the Heritage Museum, as well as being active in the Libby Asbestos Technical Advisory Group (TAG).
Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Guy Michael; his parents, Gerald and Delores; his niece, Connie Tecca; and his great nephew, Taylor Tecca.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Hersman (Johnson); sister, Sandra (Bud) Tecca of Kalispell; son, Todd (Emily) Hersman; grandsons, Joseph and Samuel Hersman; son, Bryan (Kelly) Hersman; granddaughters, Karinda (Mike) VanderSanden and Hannah Hersman; great granddaughter, Aralynn Hersman, all of Missoula; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dogs, Yukon and Tasha.
A private family gathering in honor of Jerry’s memory will be held in Missoula. May he rest in Peace and his Spirit be Free. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
