GRACE BOCK Obituary

Grace Ann Bock, (momma), 78, who loved to be called Gram by her grandchildren, departed her loving family on October 15, 2020. Grace was born in Watford City, North Dakota, on August 19, 1942 to Jesse and Marion Shelley.  She was the third born of six children; with Lorraine being the oldest followed by Mavis, Grace, Wayne, Rosalie and Dennis the youngest. Jesse and Marion moved the family to Whitefish, Montana in 1949.   After starting out in a service station business and then the railroad the family moved up to the Rexford area in 1958, where Jesse managed a ranch.   Mom, laughing, would say that growing up in a family of six kids led to a lot of crazy adventures which most often ended in discipline.

After two previous marriages Grace finally got it right when she married the love of her life, Fred (Mick) Bock, on October 25, 1969.  Together they raised their children; Tammy, Vern, Deanne and Angie in a house filled with laughter and love.  Angie tragically passed away in 1977 leaving a huge hole in everyone’s heart.

Grace loved fishing, huckleberry picking and picnics with her family and friends.  She also had a beautiful voice and enjoyed country music, as well as crocheting and puzzles.

Grace was very loving and her favorite way of showing this love was by doing what she did best, preparing big homemade dinners with all the fixings for her family and friends. She was famous for her fried chicken and potato salad, chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes, turkey and dressing, apple and huckleberry pies, breads, raised doughnuts and maple bars.  There was nothing momma made that wasn’t loved.

Grace was notorious for spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they will tell you she was the best grandma there ever could be.  Christmas was a very special time with her around, particularly because of her unrivaled sugar cookies.

In 2016, Grace had the sudden urge to give even more love and the lucky recipient was a Morkie puppy (Maltese and Yorkie) that she named Abbie.  The happiness this little dog gave her is immeasurable; they were inseparable! Her friends will tell you Grace was genuine, loyal and kind, and ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Marion Shelley;  husband Mick Bock; daughter Angie, daughter Rebecca, sister Lorraine Shelley, sister Mavis Potter; brother Wayne Shelley, sister Rosalie Countryman.

We wish to thank her caregivers from Lincoln County Hospice Services; Kembrough, Sharon, Jeanette, Lisa and Nancy.
