In 1949, Germaine married Glenn R. Hugill, her high school sweetheart.  To this union were born five children.  They had celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1999.  After retirement, they toured Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavia.

A lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Germaine served for over 60 years in the music ministry at St. Joseph Catholic Church as choir director, liturgist, pianist and organist.  Germaine was also a member of Lambda and Alpha Theta Chapters of Delta Kappa Gamma.  She was a member of Kootenai Teachers for Education, Senior Citizens and the Red Hats.  A supporter of Heritage Council, for several years, Germaine played piano for children musical productions under the direction of Mary Sullivan Reckin.

Germaine was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; son, David; her parents; and brother, Maurice.
