“Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely, in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a ride!'" (Hunter S. Thompson)
Born during a blizzard February 21, 1925, at home on the Canadian prairie, Eleanor Cantrall was a force of nature. In the early morning of July 23, 2024, her soul slipped out a window to continue her merry wanderings.
The last few weeks and days revealed Eleanor's tremendous will and imagination. She travelled across oceans and met kings, queens and princes. Eleanor's busy hands stitched mountains of fabrics and carried homemade quilts across the countryside. She travelled by plane, auto and on foot around the world.
Even with all this journeying, Eleanor inquired after dear friends and family, laughed at her own foibles and exhausted people who dared try to keep up with her. Eleanor declared she felt like she was starting her life over and planned to get a dog.
If you want to do something that would warm Eleanor's heart; rescue a cat, adopt a dog, or hug a child.
Our deepest thanks to the lovely women at Home Sweet Home, Melissa, Twila, Lisa and Leah; our dear friend Julie Wilson; caregivers Dionne, Breanna, Kathy and Kimbrough; Bailey, Sharon and Kent of Logan Hospice. Finally, we want to thank the Eureka community and the many, many people who have cradled Eleanor with love and support these past 58 years. Thanks from Mickie and Melinda.
