Donna Bernesky Obituary

Donna Jean Hume-Bernesky, 78, has gone home to be with our heavenly Father. She was born on January 29th, 1948, to William “Bill” Hume and Lorance Blondshine-Hume.  She passed on May 29th, 2026, in Dillon Montana. She lived in Fortine, Rexford and Eureka as she grew up.
She worked in restaurants, bars and anything that would help pay the bills. Donna was a fierce independent person and if she thought she was right there was no changing her mind. In 1996 she married Gary Bernesky, a Canadian logger. They moved to Cranbrook and lived there until 2024. Donna then moved to Clinton, Montana so she could be closer to her daughter and two grandchildren.
Donna has been preceded in death by her mother and father; her sisters Barbara and Lory; husband Garry; and children William and Brock. She is survived by her brother Freddy Hume living in Oklahoma; son Russell Wilson (Debbie) living in Louisville, Kentucky; and daughter Sharon (Jim) (Wilson) Carvey living in Clinton, Montana. She was the loving grandmother of three granddaughters Jody, Melisa and Shae; two grandsons Dustin (Katie) and Wade; and had two great granddaughters from Jody: Phoenix and Mariah.
Garry was her rock that she hung onto for forty-four years. After his passing in 2020 her health went downhill. She was diagnosed with Dementia, the saddest disease for loved ones to live through. In 2024 she moved close to her daughter Sharon so she could be watched and taken care of. Both Sharon and Melisa have been her caretakers since July of 2024. We know now that she is in a safer better place and can remember everything and everybody.
Services will be held at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka, MT, on the 13th of June 2026 at 1100 am. The family is asking instead of flowers or gifts to please give to Dementia Society of America.
