DONALD HEARN, SR Obituary

Donald W. Hearn Sr., 87, died at his home at Trego on February 10, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer, and entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (John 3:16, 2 Cor. 5:8).  He was born March 2, 1932 to William and Goldie Hearn near Trego, Montana and attended schools in Trego and Eureka. He married Isabell Gregory on July 10, 1951 in Kalispell. They resided their entire married life at Trego and raised five children.

Don began a career with the U.S. Forest Service when he was in his early 20's and retired after 36 years. He first worked at the Ant Flat Ranger Station which is now an historical site, and later at the Murphy Lake Ranger Station. Following his retirement he enjoyed hunting (with successful elk and deer hunts too numerous to recount), fishing, and gardening. He was widely known for his bountiful gardens which he generously shared with others, and he was an avid fruit tree grower. He sold different varieties of apples every fall and was known around Trego as "the apple man."

Don was an elder at the Fortine Community Church for many years where he was a long time member and he also taught adult Sunday School classes for many years. His faith and love for his church and God were evident in his life.

Don is survived by his wife of 68 years, Isabell (Izzy), and children Don Jr. (Sherry) of Columbia Falls; Dan (Geri) of Columbia Falls; Doug (Roze) of Fortine; Mary (Dave) of Anaconda; and John of Trego; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members in Libby, Montana and throughout Oregon.

A memorial service will be held at the Fortine Community Church on February 21st at 11:00 am with a meal provided by the church afterwards. Those wishing to make a donation in Don's memory may give to the Dickey Lake Bible Camp for youth scholarships in care of the Fortine Community Church, P.O. Box 116, Fortine, MT, 59918.  Arrangements are by Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Eureka.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
