Daryle Dean Handy left this world to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 24, 2019. He was born on August 4, 1942 in Ft. Riley, KS to Gib and Laverne Handy, one of five children, Connie, Daryle, Dale, Linda, and Tami.
Daryle grew up mostly in Colorado and subsequently enlisted in the Marine Corps. While in the Corps he met and married his first wife, Janet, while stationed in Tennessee training to be certified as a helicopter mechanic and Aircraft engine mechanic. Daryle and Janet had four children, Dwight, Debora, James, and Jacob.
After being honorably discharged in 1965, Daryle worked in the aviation industry on projects from Alaska to Colorado and then became self employed as a welder/fabricator in the oil patches of Wyoming and Colorado.
In 1987, Daryle married Katherine (Kay) Wright-Handy and inherited three more children, Christine, Shaylene, and David.
After a severe motorcycle crash, Daryle and Kay became disabled and retired in Eureka where Daryle’s tenacious will to keep going day to day was incredibly inspiring not only to his kids, but to all who knew him. Daryle could fix (or break) just about anything and was extremely proud of his military service and his country. He served as the Commander of the local VFW in Eureka and was always willing to help anyone who he knew needed it. Daryle enjoyed competitive cowboy shooting, square dancing, and fishing, adapting these activities to his physical disability.
Daryle is survived by all of his children and wife, Kay, as well his sixteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2019 at The First Baptist Church in Eureka. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Eureka. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
