Crystal Ann Nixon
November 15, 1954 – March 6, 2025
Crystal Ann Nixon, age 70, passed away on March 6, 2025, in Missoula, Montana. Born on November 15, 1954, in Libby Montana, Crystal spent much of her life as an in-home child caregiver in New Jersey, New York, and California. She loved living in the big cities and relished the many adventures she experienced along the way. After years of helping families across the country, Crystal returned to Libby to care for her beloved parents, Albert and Annis Nixon.
Crystal was an accomplished seamstress with a passion for quilting. She took great pride in her ability to create beautiful pieces, often making her own clothes and quilting with a remarkable talent for coordinating colors and designs. Her friends and family knew they could always count
on her for advice, especially when it came to fabric. Crystal could tell you how many yards you
needed for any project, straight off the top of her head. She adored quilting retreats and found joy in meeting new friends who shared her passion. Crystal was always willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn how to quilt or sew, generously sharing her knowledge and skills.
A dedicated lover of cats, Crystal's heart was always open to her feline companions. From her childhood cat, Charlie, to the many other beloved cats she cared for over the years, her love for them was unmatched.
Crystal had a love for musicals, often with her iTunes playlist accompanying her wherever she went. Her favorite band as a teenager was the Cowsills. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she delighted in every part of the season—setting up the tree, baking cookies, and of course enjoying the music.
She is preceded in death by her father, Albert Nixon; her mother, Annis (Blink) Nixon; her grandparents, Worth and Lela Nixon, and Herman and Crystal Blink; her brother-in-law, Dan Broers; and many well-loved uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Crystal is survived by her brother, Worth (Kimberly) Nixon; her sisters, Cathleen Broers and Carol (Roy) Thompson; her nephews, Daniel and Grant Broers, and Daniel and Michaela Thompson; along with many cherished cousins and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held this spring, and all are invited to attend. In honor of Crystal, guests are encouraged to wear the color red, her favorite color.
Up in heaven, we can imagine Crystal finding a sewing machine and a quilting store, where she will continue her love of sewing, quilting, and teaching others. Her creativity and warmth will be remembered by all who knew her. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed.
