Carla Ramona (Workman) Rasmussen passed away on July 24, 2024, at her home on Pinkham, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 8, 1962, to Wayne and Lois (Carvey) Workman in Libby, MT. Carla grew up on Pinkham Creek at the family homestead. She worked at her mom’s restaurant, Sunshine Café, during her teenage and young adult years. She graduated from Lincoln County High School in Eureka in 1980.
On January 8, 1984, Carla welcomed her daughter, Wendy. She married her soulmate, Edward Rasmussen, on June 6, 1992, and they had a son, Alan, on December 19, 1993. They purchased the family homestead on Pinkham Creek and happily lived there.
Carla was a stay-at-home mom for many years while Ed worked in the oil fields. She volunteered her time to Special Olympics, creating fun opportunities for kids with special needs and making every kid feel loved. Carla’s passion became a reality when she opened Sunshine Thrift, a store that employs people with special needs.
She was the life of every party, hosting Halloween bashes, kids’ dances, picnics, and craft days. Carla loved being in the woods up Pinkham, picking huckleberries and wild strawberries, (she made the best wild strawberry jam) and was always ready to help anyone in need. She loved her family and cherished any time spent together.
Describing Carla is like describing kindness, warmth, and love. She had a heart of gold, and her laughter was infectious. She was a beacon of light during tough times and brought comfort to everyone around her.
Carla is survived by her husband, Ed; her daughter, Wendy Chalcraft (Dustin); her son, Alan; her sisters, Charlotte Park (Jeff), Ann Lynn (Jeff), and Becky Hanks; her brothers, Scott Persson (Laura), Rick Persson; her granddaughters, Jaylen and Kali Chalcraft; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Lois Workman and her brother, Harold Persson.
Carla’s spirit was full of kindness and compassion. Her vibrant energy will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Carla’s life will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 355 9th St, in Eureka, Montana with a luncheon to follow.
