Bengie Jessica Hansen, 70, Libby MT, a loving wife, mother, nana, sister and friend passed unexpectedly on March 3, 2026. Bengie was born on March 15, 1955, in Downey, ID to Ben and Marion Bowen who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law Judy Cannon and father-in-law Stu Cannon.
After High School Bengie went on to become a dental assistant. She had a previous marriage where her daughter Jessica was born. If she wasn’t picking plaque out of patient’s teeth or cheering at her daughters sporting events, you could find her boot scoot and boogieing across the dance floor where she caught the eye of Brien in 1998. They were immediately married where she gained two additional children, Zak and Alicia. In 2005 Brien and Bengie moved to Libby MT where she did medical billing at the CHC and recently retired in 2021.
Bengie loved the great outdoors where she enjoyed camping, razor riding and “BSing” by the fire. During her retirement Bengie started her mornings off going to the gym and spending the rest of her day doing fun projects around the house and even taught herself how to crochet. But most of all Bengie loved being a nana and spending time with family.
Bengie always cared for others with a natural warmth that made everyone feel seen and supported. She had a positive outlook and playful sense of humor that brought smiles to those around her and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Bengie is survived by her loving husband Brien Hansen, daughter Jessica (James) Ping, son Zak (McKenzie) Hansen, daughter Alicia (Justin) Hansen and grandchildren Kymber, Grace, Clara and Teadman, sisters Jennifer and Jeannette, brother Frank, brother-in-law Dean and sisters-in-law Vera and Karen.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at the Libby Christian Church; 100 Kootenai River Road; Libby, MT.
