MARJORIE THATCHER Obituary

Marjorie Ellen Thatcher, 82, passed away, with relatives at her side, Thanksgiving Day November 22, 2018 at the Kalispell MT Regional Medical Center from natural causes.  Marge, as she was known, was born May 15, 1936 in Great Falls, MT to John and Lucile Braun. She spent early childhood growing up on a ranch north of Geyser and attended grade school in Columbia Falls while her step dad worked on the construction of Hungry Horse Dam.

In 1954, Marge moved to Stanford and graduated from Stanford High School.  She then moved to Great Falls and worked in banking.  Soon after, Marge met, fell in love with, and married Ewing (Butch) Wells. Jr.  They moved to Maceo, KY after his discharge from the U.S. Air Force.  Together they had four children, Jeff, Joel, and twins Jana and Jason.  In 1972, after Marge and Butch divorced, she and the children moved to Stanford, MT to be closer to her mom.  She enjoyed raising her children and working as a bookkeeper at Lewistown LP Gas and Fertilizer. In 1982, Marge and longtime friend Ed Thatcher married and, along with the twins, moved to Kingman/Cottonwood AZ.  In 1991 they moved to Eureka, MT to manage and operate the Midvale Water Company. In 2007 she lost her beloved daughter that she’d always wanted.

Marge was a strong woman. She and Ed were avid bowlers and enjoyed many beloved friends in that community.  Marge was also a sports enthusiast especially when it came to the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Lakers. Ed died in 2000. She took the death of Ed and Jana very hard.

Marge is survived by brother Don (Rita) Fort Benton, MT; sons Jeff (Lisa) Sheridan, WY; Joel Winslow, IN; and Jason (Leann) Council Bluffs, IA; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, her close Eureka family Rick Morgan (Shelly), Brad Schoepf and Julie Miller.

No services were requested and burial will be at a later date.  Arrangements are by Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Eureka.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com
