JAMES THOMPSON Obituary

James A. Thompson, 72, died Wednesday July 18, 2018 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained from a fall.  Jim was born April 7, 1946 in Morris, IL to Tilman & Jeanette (Olson) Thompson.  Jim grew up and attended school in Morris IL.  Jim graduated from Morris High School with honor in the class of 1964.  Jim attended Southern Illinois University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Forestry.  Jim moved to Virginia where he attended Virginia Tech University and earned a Masters of Science in Wildlife Biology.  After finishing his degrees Jim moved to Williamston, NC where he taught Forestry at Martin Tech.  Jim moved to Eureka in 1977 and found employment with the US Forest Service. Before his retirement Jim also substitute taught at Lincoln County High School.  Jim enjoyed rafting, camping, hunting, boating, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.  Jim was an avid Cub’s fan and took great pride in watching the Cub’s win the World Series. 

                Survivors include his daughter Lori Thompson of Eureka, MT; grandson Joshua Thompson of Lakeside, MT; granddaughter Nikayla Brown of CO; grandson Dawsyn Thompson of Eureka, MT; great grandson Kolter Brown of CO; sister Marsha Bednarik (Tom) of FL; nieces Katie Purdy (Danny) FL; great nieces Adalynn & Evie; nephew Tommy Bednarik of TX.

                Memorials may be given to the Lion’s Club or Montana Association for the Blind at Large Chapter. 

                Memorial services will be held Monday, July 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM at The 1st Church of God in Eureka, MT.  Services are under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home.  On line condolences and memories may be shared at schnackenbergfh.com
