Clifford Slaney, 79, of Eureka, died Monday (10-8) at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. He was born September 21, 1939 to William Slaney and Hazel Robbe Slaney; the family had lived in Post Falls, ID until returning to Eureka in 2017.
Cliff served in the United States Air Force from 1958 through 1962. His penchant for aircraft leads to employment as an aircraft mechanic for United Airlines until becoming involved in the commercial trucking business. He transported Specialized and Heavy equipment throughout the US and Canada until his retirement in 2009. Not one to sit idle, he then became the proprietor of a food concession business from 2008 through 2015.
Survivors include his wife Sherry of Eureka; daughter, Amber Canite of Hauser, ID; son, Stephen Casteel of Fairfield, CA; sisters, Marilyn Mason of Eureka; Vicki Barrett (Mike) of Spokane, WA; Flori Benner of Eureka; a brother, Dallas Johnston (Linda) of Post Falls, ID; sister-in-law Ivey Slaney of Post Falls, ID; granddaughters Jessi Anderson (Jason), Lisa Ventimiglia (Tommy), Sarah Heath (Jason) and Taylor Casteel; as well as 11 great grandchildren and numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Military graveside services will be Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Tobacco Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Eureka. Condolences and memories may be shared online by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.
