John Frederick Dahm, age 30, of Libby, Montana passed away Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 in Virginia City, Montana where he was currently employed by a mining company as their diesel mechanic. John was born on September 30, 1987 in Libby, Montana. John lived overseas in Saudi Arabia with his family for a period of time during his younger years eventually moving to Wrangell, Alaska and then back to Libby where he has resided ever since. After graduation from Libby High School in 2006, John went on to WyoTech in Laramie, WY and got an advanced degree in Diesel Technology in 2008. Since that time John has been employed by several mining companies, most recently in Virginia City, Montana. John was known for his quiet demeanor, easy smile, and kindness to others, his love of guns and trucks, and his love of animals as well as anything related to nature. 

John was preceded in death by his mother Martha (Dahm) Phoenix in May of 2017.


John is survived by his father Stephen (Julie) Dahm of Libby; his stepfather Gary Phoenix of Libby; his brother Mark Dahm (Kayla Wrightson) of Libby; Luke Dahm (BreeAnna Adamson) of Canyon Lake, TX; his half-brother Josh (Erika) Johnson of Bonney Lake, WA; his stepbrothers Craig Phoenix (Miranda Rhodes) of Libby; Jarad (Shantel) Phoenix of Missoula, MT;  Jeremy Poirer of Aberdeen, SD; Jason Poirer of Piedmont, SD; Dean Poirer of Box Elder, SD; Josiah Poirer of Sioux Falls, SD; and stepsister Lacey Poirer of Rapid City, SD; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his very special companion, Barrett the dog.


John will be truly missed by his family and friends who love him so very much. May he rest in peace.


A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm at The Mint Bar in Libby on March 3rd, 2018. A formal spreading of his ashes will be held at a later date this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of John to Kootenai Pets for Life, PO Box 1454, Libby, MT 59923.
